Die of ecstasy

This song, "Don't know why", coming through the airwaves now, always reminds me of an afternoon in my office during the days when I was a PA. Level 50, OUB centre. Sounds damn prestigious to be working in a boardroom office so high up there.

Joyce and I were, as usual, busy doing nothing constructive and serious/urgent in our respective space, facing each other. I've brought some of my CDs to play using her boss's stereo system in his office. She chose to play Norah Jones "Don't know why". It was after lunch; we were waiting to knock off, yet another day unscathed by the silly antics and eyerolls-inducing bosses (and their lackey).

So, you see, it was very, very relaxing. We were msning, surfing the net, I was probably blogging or looking for other jobs online. All the while, keeping our fingers crossed that the corridor outside the boardroom stay as quiet as ever, with no indication that our wannabe bosses were on their way to work (just when we were about to knock off work).

Everytime I hear this song, I remember fondly of the time Mel, Joyce and myself worked together and fought against the dishonest and shallow conman-personalities of our bosses. And the view from 50th floor, OUB centre, looking out into clubs-and-restaurants-lined Singapore River, Connaught Dr, and Marina Center and Esplanade in the distance.

Some nice memory from a short stint working for an empty and failing company.
